Governments worldwide are looking to increase energy-efficiency and slash costs as they begin to phase out general use incandescent lamps, creating exciting new opportunities for engineers, architects and manufacturers of intelligent lighting solutions in the Middle East region. According to a report by the Centre for Industrial Studies the UAE lighting industry is now worth US$336 million and is expected to grow by 5 per cent in 2013 and by 10 per cent in 2014. The Middle East Lighting Association (MELA) held its formal launch at this event.
