On Considering International Standards as Binding Omani Standards
Pursuant to Sultani Decree No. 11/2017 on the determination of the Competencies of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the approval of its organisational structure; and Based on the public interest requirements;
It was decided:
Article 1
1- The following International Standards concerning Fluorescent Lamps shall be considered as Binding Omani Standards:
2- IEC 61195 “Double-capped fluorescent lamp- Safety specifications”
3- IEC 61199 “Single-capped fluorescent lamp- Safety specifications”
4- IEC 62532 “Fluorescent induction Lamp- Safety specifications”
5- IEC 60968 “Self-ballasted fluorescent lamps for general lightning services- Safety requirements”
Article 2 – The companies and institutions shall be granted a period of (6) months from the effective date of the present decision to consume their stocks of Fluorescent Lamps that are not in conformity with the standards set forth in Article (1).
Article 3 – An administrative fine that does not exceed OR (1000) shall be imposed upon any person who violates the provisions of the present Decision, and the fine shall be duplicated in the case of repeating the violation.
Article 4 – This Decision shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall enter into force from the day following the date of its publication.
