Energy Efficiency, Functionality And Labeling Requirements For Lighting, Part 2, Standard SASO 2902/2018
From SASO (Feb 2019) – All products will be allowed to enter the market until 31st of March 2019 without registering in Lighting Standard Part II and without a label. Enforcement on the market will begin on 1st of October 2019.Following intervention from MELA (May 2019) reduced requirements on lifetime testing & use of internal laboratories for testing. Lumen maintenance and survival factor at 2000hrs until 31 December 2019.

Energy Efficiency, Functionality And Labeling Requirements For Lighting, Part 3, Standard SASO tbc. (Light sources, control gear & integrated luminaires used in Street lighting.) No info available yet from SASO although expectation is that this will enter force in 2019.
The launch of the Saudi online conformity assessment system ‘SABER’, announced earlier in 2018, was postponed in late 2018 to January 2019. The SABER system was proposed earlier in the year by SASO as a new online conformity assessment system for imported products. The system was established to facilitate the new Saudi Product Safety Program known as SALEEM whereby the SABER system will become the central online repository of all mandatory SALEEM data.Entry in force -June 2019 when SABER will become the central repository of all mandatory certification data.
