The Board of Directors of the Middle East Lighting Association (MELA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Berno Ram as its third MELA President, effective 24th September 2019.
Berno has had a long career in the Lighting Industry and is currently managing global Hospitality Lighting for Signify. He comes with a wealth of experience in Lighting and Lighting applications, as well as lighting policy and regulatory affairs having represented industry interests in Europe (Lighting Europe and now the Middle East (MELA).
His appointment as MELA President coincides with the recent strategic objective outlined by the MELA Board and members to bring and promote a much needed minimum level of quality to the lighting specification market in the region through the introduction of a Middle East series of best practice lighting application guides.
Berno joined Philips in 1986 and Philips Lighting (now Signify) in 2000, holding various roles in sustainability and green marketing, and more recently in business development, sales and lighting application services in Europe, Russia, South America and the Middle East.
Berno will be supported in his role by Vice Presidents Manoj Jayachandran – Managing Director Middle East Africa Turkey Central Asia & South East Asia – Tungsram International Inc, and Rami Obeid – Retail & Trade Sales Director & Brand Ambassador – Ledvance.
