The Outdoor Lighting Program is a critical pillar of Dubai’s Demand Side Management Strategy which aims to reduce the Emirate’s energy – electricity and water – consumption by 30% by 2030. The program details plans to retrofit lighting systems across Dubai’s roads, streets and public parks. The Outdoor Lighting UAE conference focused on a variety of aspects integral to outdoor and external lighting – both retrofits as well as new installations. Topics covered included: Road and Street Lighting, Parks and Landscapes, Regulation for external/ Facade Lighting, Road and Highway Safety, Fundamentals of good Lighting Design, Mitigating Light Trespass, Maintaining Public Safety, Minimising wasted energy (variable lighting levels) and Strategies for reducing upfront capital cost.
