It its announcement on February 14, 2018 GE reported that it is selling the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Turkey Lighting business, as well as its Global Automotive Lighting division. This transaction includes the Hungarian organization as well.
As part of the sale, the new owner, Tungsram Operations Kft. will act as legal successor in terms of contracts governing memberships in professional and non-governmental organizations.
This means that as of the date of the transaction, scheduled for April 1, 2018, Tungsram Operations Kft. will become an official member of MELA (instead of GE Hungary Kft.), and Tungsram Operations Kft. will take over all related requirements.
